On Thursday, August 30th, 2018, Fraunhofer IGD is hosting a symposium on “Cultural Heritage and Digitization”. As part of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, Fraunhofer IGD is collaborating with Darmstadt, the City of Science, to invite national and international experts to discuss forward-looking solutions for preserving cultural heritage. How closely digitization and cultural heritage are connected is demonstrated by Fraunhofer’s CultLab3D, a mobile scanning pipeline for advancing the mass digitizing of cultural heritage. For this, CultLab3D will be given the Europa Nostra Award at this symposium. The event will conclude with a visit to Mathilde Heights, which is seeking a place on the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites.
